So many of us...

Today was a grocery purchasing day and I was blown away by these mushrooms. They remind me of Sylvia Plath's poem about mushrooms taking over the world - they just look so fecund: very 'so many of us'!

Nudgers and shovers
In spite of ourselves.
Our kind multiplies:

We shall by morning
Inherit the earth.
Our foot's in the door.

Sylvia Plath ("Mushrooms")

  1. fecund....what a great word. how good are mushrooms...something that is definately missing here in australia...just not the same.

(im excited cause my computer wouldn't let me comment on your blog the other day....and now it will...i will read through and add all the things i thought when i first read).

meanwhile, a dear friend of ours paid me what i deemed a great compliment on sunday....said i was like a Caucasian version of you.

  3. is it poetry day?

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands
